Topics covered

The project consists of 3 classroom sessions and one day outdoors.  Topics covered include the following:

  • discovery of the Mediterranean marine biodiversity
  • introduction to scientific sampling methods
  • citizenship and the environment: citizen science

Both indoors and outdoors

One day is devoted to snorkeling and visiting the Biodiversarium of Banyuls-sur-Mer. This educational aquarium allows students to recognize the fauna and flora they observed with masks and snorkels in the morning.

The project was carried out in 2019 with the middle schools of Saint André, Port-Vendres and Pons in Perpignan in the Pyrénées-Orientales thanks to funding from the Departmental Council 66 and the Marine Natural Park of the Gulf of Lion. In 2020, Nostra Mar plans to run it with the students of Saint André, Canet en Roussillon and Marcel Pagnol in Perpignan.
